Welcome

Welcome to the Richard Murcott Garden Web site. These pictures hardly do justice to the years of work that Rich Murcott has put into his beautiful garden, but it provides the visitor with a taste of what to look forward to next Spring. The garden itself contains all kinds of plants: ferns, pines, Chyrsanthemums, hollies, and perenials, but the main focus is on Rhododendrons. Rich has purposely left the garden very natural and open. There are paths through the garden, but they are not designed to be intrusive to the flower areas. They are covered with woodchips and aren't separated from the flower beds themselves. A tour by Rich usually includes walking among the flowers themselves and looking at the leaves, branches, flowers of each Rhododendron.

The environment of the garden is also very special. Many of the rhododendrons are fragrant, so there is a sweet smell of flowers throughout the property. The trees offer a welcome break from the hot sun during the hot summer. There are many birds that fill the air with their chirping during the day, who are then relieved by the crickets at night who continue the music.

The garden is broken up into three main areas - the front, back and "back back". The history section of the site goes into greater detail of the garden's layout.

The site is broken down into a four main sections:

  • Garden Tour - this steps you through all of the pictures of the garden with a short description of each view.
  • Nursery - this is a collection of thumbnails with links to larger views of each picture
  • History - covers how the garden has grown over the past 33 years
  • Questions - FAQ's and a hot link to send an email to Dave and Tim, Rich's sons who will pass on your questions to Rich (who would rather spend time in the garden, then sit in front of a computer)
